You can build something worth sharing and still feel invisible. I wanted to see what would happen if I showed up on X.
I’m Denys, a data engineer from Ukraine living in Barcelona. I spent years focused on football before accepting that the professional path I wanted was not going to happen. Starting again was hard, but it taught me that life keeps changing—and that you have to keep learning if you want to meet it well.
By September 2026, I was working a corporate job and thinking seriously about what I wanted my life to look like. My partner and I were sharing a 35-square-metre flat in Barcelona. I wanted to test business ideas, make something of my own and build a personal brand around the skills I had spent years developing.
So I started posting: to put my ideas into the open, meet people building interesting things and see whether consistent work could create an audience. I did not begin with a polished strategy. I tried formats, paid attention to what people responded to, and kept going long enough to learn from the difference.
I began on September 27 with an inactive account and zero followers. By October 30, I had 3.3K followers and about 12 million impressions. X approved my account for monetization on day 25. My first payout arrived on November 6: $2,639.84.
That is my result, not a forecast for yours. The playbook shows the posts, replies, tests and misses behind it so you can make your own informed experiment.
